On 15 July 2019 at UNICEF House in New York, Roslinda speaks at a panel discussion at the event ‘Leave No Child Behind: Achieving the SDFs through investing in the rights of the child’. Roslinda, 14 years old, is a second year Junior High School student from Kopbapari Village, Sumba Island in Indonesia. She leads advocacy activities with her village’s Child Forum to ensure space for child voices and pro-child development programmes in her village. Her village has a high prevalence of stunting and violence against children. The region has also high illiteracy problem, school dropouts, lack of access to basic sanitation and poor clean water supply. Roslinda involved with Wahana Visi Indonesia (partner of World Vision International) activities since 2016 and then selected as child forum coordinator in Kombapari Village since 2018. Through Roslinda and her friend's advocacy and contribution, her village became one of the first villages in Indonesia that issued a regulation on Children Protection, including child marriage prevention and birth certificate obligation, which resulted in having 100% coverage of birth certificate. She is also leading the Child Forum’s participation at the Village Development Process (musrembangdes), which resulted in securing around 60 million rupiah village funds for the EVAC campaign. Her village also declared its commitment to becoming a Child-Friendly Village. Roslinda is passionate about children’s rights and envisions every child in her village and in Indonesia to be protected from any forms of violence. She is also concerned about the school' dropouts’ problem and believes that all children deserve a better education.
